What's in a name?

This week we received a note from Lily's daycare asking us to write down the reasons why we named her Lily or the meaning behind her name.  I wasn't sure I would have too much to write, but Lily really does have some lovely meaning behind it, so here is what I wrote, "Lily's name is Lily Jean.  Lily was mostly a name we liked and could agree on, but I also like the idea of a Lily flower with Lily pads.  We go to Lily's grandparent's house in Northern Wisconsin and the lake has lots of lily pads so we actually spoke about the name quite a bit while we visited when I was pregnant.  Jean is after Lily's great grandma Barbara Jean who went by Jeannie.  She passed away the year before Lily was born.  She was kind, giving, and strong which are all the things I hope for Lily Jean."

Merry Christmas!

Lily has had such an amazing Christmas.  She woke to find that Santa ate the cookies she left for him and he left presents in return.  We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then Lily got to play with her gifts before skyping with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Kelly to open more gifts!  She is very excited about her playdoh, legos, and trolls.  We will have her buddy, Anna over later today and I am sure more fun will ensue.  After all this fun it was tough to go down for a nap so Lily rocked in her chair with mommy and fell asleep on me.  I don't do that often but it was a nice Christmas treat for both of us.  Christmas with a two year old is everything I could hope for and Lily is such a lucky little girl with so many people sending her amazing gifts and skyping with her.

Merry Christmas Eve!

A wonderful night of presents, dancing, yummy treats, and magical stories.  Funny quotes of today:  Travis asked Lily who was winning the Packer game and she responded "the Grinch!"  I told Lily that the good girls and boys would get presents and she said Daddy is naughty.  She has been saying this all week so I guess coal for him.  We got to leave cookies out for santa and I think we are in luck as there are lots more presents under the tree now.  Such a lucky and spoiled little girl!

The Best Day Ever!

Lily's daycare had a pipe that burst and flooded a good portion of the building so they closed for the day and it was the BEST day ever.  Anna came over to play for the day!  We went to the library, went to the grocery store-where Lily got to ride in a car with Anna, and played in the snow.  We built a snowman and Lily and Anna had a snowball fight.  Lily has been checking on her snowman frequently.  We ended the day with Frosty the snowman.  I am pretty sure it was Lily's dream come true.  Mommy kind of had a blast as well.
